In northern Ghana, musician Stevo Atambire travels from village to village performing at funerals, improvising songs that help families and communities bid farewell to their dead. Along these journeys from one ceremony to the next, “Long Live the Dead!” reveals a culture in which death is a shared event in the life of the community, marked through music, memory and togetherness. Without seeking to explain or romanticise what it observes, the film draws us close to a profoundly human way of facing loss.
